Laptop and Mobile Printer

Being mobile is just another day at the office for us, so it is important to have the technology that allows us to take care of our clients where ever and whenever they need us. One of our computers is a Dell Inspiron 1300 with a Verizon mobile DSL chip that allows us to access the Internet anywhere there is a cell signal. With those things, we can access the Internet, check on listings, and download the latest contracts, as well as save them online.

We use the HP Deskjet 400 as our mobile printer. It can connect via bluetooth to our Dell and has a battery that can hold a charge so that we can print 450 pages before we have to plug it into a wall socket to recharge. It prints quickly, in color, and with excellent accuracy.

We put them in an HP briefcase, so that it all of our technology is one place and is truly mobile. Here is a picture:

The Technology We Use

My first favorite is our Fujitsu Scansnap S510. It is really one of the most amazing tools that we have. Here's a picture of it. Not too big, it can fit in my computer briefcase, but when unfolded, it can hold about 15 -25 pages and scan them all to pdf in about a minute.

Here's what it looks like when it's unfolded:

It scans both sides of a paper at the same time, and if you slow it down a bit, you can scan photos so well that I can't tell the difference between the original and the scanned one. Kind of geeky, sure, but when you get a contract faxed back and forth more than twice, it can become so hard to read that it is useless. With this Scansnap, I can print off of an email, have clients sign it, scan it and email it to either our transaction coordinator or the other agent (and usually client too) and the contract is picture perfect.

One major plus with the Scansnap is that it comes with a full version of Adobe Acrobat, which in itself costs more than $400.00. I paid around $400.00 for the Scansnap, so it really was an excellent deal.

Our printer recently passed away and we went out and bought a new one. The prices have dropped so much over the last few years and we were amazed at what was available. We chose the HP Color Laserjet 2605dn. It can print on both sides of a paper and it does it fast, and beautifully. It's big, but it still isn't too big to fit into a home office. Here is a picture.

Even cooler, check out what it looks like on the inside!

We can print gorgeous marketing materials on this printer, and we won't have to change ink cartridges for another 2500 pages!

There is a lot more technology that we use, but this is a good start for today. What do you think?
